ArtworkValue: what this sitemap covers

ArtworkValue gives owners of paintings, drawings and prints a first idea of what a piece might be worth. You upload photos and receive an AI-generated estimate with a value range, not a fixed price. The site also explains artists, art types and the appraisal process.

How the estimate works

Photograph the whole front in daylight, the signature up close and the back with any labels. Add what you know, such as a name, the size or where the work came from. The result shows a realistic range, a confidence level and whether the piece looks more like a print or an original. Two works of the same size can differ enormously in value, mainly because of the artist, the medium, condition and provenance – see also how to tell an original from a print.

When an estimate is not enough

Heirs, insurers, courts and tax offices usually need a written document. ArtworkValue offers appraisals by independent experts whose signature is notarized, at fixed prices per artwork rather than a share of the value. Details: appraisal prices and what an art appraisal costs. Photos alone can never authenticate a work by a famous artist.

Frequently asked questions about ArtworkValue

Is the artwork estimate really free?

Yes. You can upload photos and get an estimate without creating an account or paying anything.

How accurate is a value estimate from photos?

It is a ballpark figure. Photos cannot show texture, condition up close or provenance, so you get a range and a confidence level instead of one exact number.

Which photos should I take?

One straight-on photo of the whole front in daylight without flash, a close-up of the signature or marks, and one of the back with labels and stamps.

Can ArtworkValue confirm that my painting is by a famous artist?

No. Nobody can authenticate an artwork from photos. If an attribution seems possible, an expert, the artist's foundation or a formal appraisal is the next step.

What happens to the photos I upload?

According to the site, they are sent to an AI provider to create the estimate and are neither published nor kept on its servers.
